5-DAY ADVENTURE PACK - Christchurch to Christchurch

The following itinerary is designed for the traveller looking for fun and adventure in just 5 days within the central South Island region.

Day one  Christchurch
Upon arrival at Christchurch, you will pick up your rental vehicle and drive to your central city accommodation.  This day is free for you to unpack, relax and explore the city area.  Christchurch is the second-largest city in New Zealand and is the hub of the Canterbury region.  There is a wide range of activities to enjoy within the city area.
Suggestions:
Christchurch Gondola.  Take a ride to the summit of the Port Hills, 500 metres above sea level.  It's magic!  Spectacular 360-degree views of the city.
International Antarctic Centre.  The world's best Antarctic Attraction and twice voted the �Best Attraction in New Zealand', this is a fun indoor all-weather environment with real snow and ice and the Antarctic Hagglund Ride - this is a �must' - an exciting outdoor adventure ride that departs from the attraction every 20 minutes.
Punting on the Avon.  Enjoy this unique way of absorbing the sights and charms of central Christchurch. This operates daily (weather permitting) from the Worcester Blvd Bridge.

Day two   Christchurch - Rangitata Rafting - Geraldine
An early start today as a Rangitata Raft Day Tour has been booked for you.  This is a full on day!  Drive
yourself on Highway 72 to the rafting base, 10 kilometres from Peel Forest.  All you need is your swimsuit, towel, sense of adventure and a big smile as they will provide wet suits, jackets, termal wear, booties, helmets, instructions, showers and food.  No previous experience necessary.  Minimum age, 15 years.
Accommodation has been arranged for you tonight at Geraldine.

Day three   Geraldine - Lake Tekapo - Twizel
Today you will head further south to Lake Tekapo and Twizel - Approx 2-3 hours drive.   Lake Tekapo (population approx 305) is the most scenic lake in the Mackenzie area and is situated 710 metres above sea level.  This area is reputed to have the clearest air in the southern hemisphere.  Twizel (population approx 1014) is the heart of the MacKenzie and is a popular year-round destination.
Helicopter Up and Mountain Bike Down Benmore - Leaving from Twizel at 2.00 pm, this Heli Bike trip combine the excitement of a helicoper flight in the spectacular Mt. Cook region, with the adventure of a mountain bike ride down high country farm tracks.  Benmore is the ultimate Heli Bike ride, descending 1300 vertical metres from Benmore mountain.  Time 3.5 hours.

Day four  Twizel - Mt Cook
Today drive fromTwizel to Mt Cook - approx 1 hours drive.  A 3 hour tour has been booked for you.  Departing from Mount Cook National Park by minibus - 15 minute drive, followed by a half hour walk to the shore of Lake Tasman.  You wil be fitted with lifejackets before boarding the stable
"MAC Boats".  From here the 1 hour adventure exploring the lake, glacier and icebergs begins.
It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and bring warm clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses and of course a camera!
Accommodation has been booked tonight for you at Lake Tekapo.

Day five  Mt Cook - Christchurch
Today you are to drive back to Christchurch in time to meet your return flight.
Your drive will take approximately 3 hours.
Drop off your rental vehicle as per your Rental Agreement.
